Two Scoops Bird

I did this card for Cupcake Challenge #13 on Taylored Expressions.

I used Basic Grey Two Scoops paper and one of the birds from the Birds Galore set by Inkadinkado. I haven't added a greeting yet because I don't know what the card will end up being used for :-)

Collage 2

I had so much fun with the brown background I did another one in purples. No vellum over it this time, just stamped the bird and greeting in black, then clear embossed it.

Collage Background

I made this card for the Arty Girlz Challenge #31, which was to make your own background. I have never done any stamping like it before and it was fun. I used 3 different stamps for the background, and some sponging. Then I stamped the bird and Je T'aime on vellum and attached it over the top with brads, made black with embossing powder.

The stamps were from Inkadinkado, House Mouse, Stamp-It and My Favourite Things. :-)

Baby Window

Last week's challenge for copycatcards was to do a card with a window in it. Well, I had done one a few years ago that I'd been hanging on to to change, and thought now would be the perfect time. Here are the before and after photos.

I wonder if I went overboard? I put some glitter on the letters and the "Congratulations" is in gold glitter pen. I also used Dimensional Magic on the letters. I used the Cuttlebug swirls folder too and went over the raised bits lightly with white chalk ink.

I rather enjoy using the Cuttlebug, and it's very hard right now because Mum and Dad have got me some more embossing folders and a cutting die for my birthday and Martin won't let me use them till then! A whole week yet before I am allowed to use them :-(

You wouldn't mind if I used them early, would you Mum?

Cantering

I made this card for the Mojo Monday sketch challenge on Poetic Artistry. I used my home-made paisley stamp again with black ink, and coloured bits in white. The star is a chipboard one which I made red, then heat embossed with a mixture of platinum and black embossing powders, which gave a sort of pewter effect. The brown strip under the square is felt ribbon, and the red stars are the punched out bits of another felt ribbon I have.

I wrote the quote on vellum and stuck it to the sponged square, which is actually a mini card, held closed with magnets.

I got really inky fingers with this one, sponging each layer with different browns. Good fun!

Pretty

It is so nice after a week of work to do what you want... after all the housework anyhow.

I used vellum on this card, running it through the Cuttlebug textile embossing folder. I really like the effect. The heart is chipboard which I covered in some Basic Grey Two Scoops paper and sponged the edges of with pink and then white ink. It is also coated in Dimensional Magic, so it's nice and shiny in real life.

The brads in the corners were silver, but I heated them up and dipped them in white embossing powder.

Baby Blue

This card was done for this week's copycatcards challenge, which was Olympic Fever. We were to make a card using the colours of the flag of any country we chose. I chose Israel, which is white and light blue. But then so is Somalia and Micronesia and maybe some others :-)

I cheated a bit and used silver too, but that could perhaps be the flag pole??? I used my Boho Blossoms stamps from MFT yet again, and my Cuttlebug. The blues in this card actually look pretty much the same as each other in natural daylight. In the photo they're a bit different though.

Are flowers ok for baby boys?

Hello Yellow!

This very simple card and gift bag were made for yet another challenge on Mustang Sarah's blog, here.

The pipe-cleaner handle on the bag reminds me of fluffy caterpillars :-) It doesn't really stand out in the picture, but the bag has white dashed lines around the flower and along the edges that are more noticeable in real life.

I used magnets that came in the mail on the back of some advertising to clasp the bag.

The stamped sentiment and flourish bit are from MFT's Boho Blossoms, as is the flower on the bag and on the background of the card.

These really look better in real life. I will try to get a better photo in the daylight some time.

Paper Piecing

This is another one for a challenge on Mustang Sarah's blog, which was to use paper piecing. I'd never done it before, but had been meaning to for a while. I cut the dress, skirt and top from various Two Scoops papers.

Je T'aime

I finally received the 30 little VersaColour ink pad cubes yesterday that were a free gift with a magazine subscription! Yay! Such beautiful colours.

I used three for this card: Magenta for the MFT Boho Blossoms heart, and Turquoise for the "Je T'aime", which is from Meet Me at the Cafe by MFT. I clear embossed both. The third was called vanilla and I swiped it around the edges of the white card. The paper is Two Scoops by Basic Grey, which I have been really reluctant to cut into - silly really.

The card was made for a sketch challenge on Mustang Sarah's blog. She has some lovely cards made with the Birds Galore stamps from Inkadinkado, which I recently purchased from a US online store and are on their way to me now. :-) I'm getting quite good at buying things for myself now. It's not something I do a lot of.
